Why do we love the Festival of Nations?



Why do we love the Festival of Nations so much? 

We asked, you answered!

We asked Festival of Nations lovers and here are some of the answers we received:

  1. Dancing and music performances from all ages
  2. Interesting costumes, cultural attire from all around!
  3. Shopping, lots of it!
  4. Bazaar!
  5.  Time with family and friends.
  6. Great activities for children both to observe and participate in.
  7. People watching; admit it, we all do it!
  8. And last but not least…FOOOOOOOD! Not a single person answered the question without mentioning all the wondering food the Festival of Nations has to offer.

Festival of Nations May 3-6, 2012

 Hello!

This is a new blog page, created to share stories, updates, photos, and details of the annual event, the Festival of Nations held at the St. Paul RiverCentre starting May 3 until May 6.  If you would like to post onto the blog by sharing your story please contact Aya Elmileik at elmil008@umn.edu

The Festival of Nation's mission is to celebrate the diversity of the community we live in and to discover that there is so much more to who we are. 

Festival of Nations fun facts:

-37 authentic ethnic Cafes featuring over 300 items
-60 cultural & educational Exhibits focused on this year's theme: Folklore, Legends & Heroes
-75 ethnic dance ensembles and musicians from all over the world providing continuous performances
-35 art demonstrations by skilled artisans of different cultures
-55 international Bazaar booths, each from a different country, selling clothing, jewelry, toys & other goods
- All vendors who participate in the Festival of Nations are non-profit 501(C)(3) non-profit organizations or individuals acting on behalf of a non-profit organization for fund-raising purposes. The Festival of Nations was established in 1932 by the International Institute of Minnesota, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization specializing in refugee resettlement.
